On 17 September, the National Archives of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosted a substantive and productive meeting with a delegation from the Archives of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The delegation included Saliman Maldybaeva, Head of the Archives of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Anara Tazabekova, Head of the Department of Audiovisual Documents and Information Technologies. The Kyrgyz delegation was welcomed by Sagila Nurlanova, Director of the National Archives of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and members of the Archives staff.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss a wide range of issues related to the development of archival affairs, the digitization of archival documents, the introduction of modern technologies, the long-term preservation of electronic records, and the exchange of professional expertise.

As part of the practical programme, the Kyrgyz delegation was introduced to the main areas of activity of the National Archives. The visitors toured the document digitization facilities, the document restoration laboratory, archival storage areas, the workshop for producing archival storage boxes, and the reading room. They also learned about modern approaches to the preservation, management and use of archival holdings.

During the meeting, archivists from both countries shared their professional experience and exchanged views on current issues and challenges in the archival field.

The Kazakh and Kyrgyz peoples are fraternal nations with common roots, a shared history and interconnected destinies. These close historical and cultural ties are also reflected in professional cooperation between the archival institutions of the two countries.

The meeting served as an important professional platform for strengthening mutual understanding, sharing expertise and further developing cooperation between the archival institutions of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
