The Department of Acquisition of the National Archival Fund works with organizations that serve as sources of acquisition for the National Archives of the Republic of Kazakhstan, regardless of their form of ownership. Currently, there are 279 organizations on the list of acquisition sources.
The main tasks of the department are:
- Identifying organizations that serve as acquisition sources for the National Archives of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
- Conducting organizational and methodological work on selecting and preparing documents on all types of media generated by acquisition source organizations for transfer to permanent storage;
- Determining the volume and composition of National Archival Fund documents and personnel records held in temporary storage within departmental (private) organizational archives;
- Preparing documents for meetings of the Expert Verification Commission of the National Archives of the Republic of Kazakhstan and organizing its operations;
- Providing methodological assistance to staff of documentation management services, departmental, and private archives of acquisition source organizations in drafting record retention schedules, regulations on departmental (private) archives and expert commissions, compiling inventories for permanent and personnel records, and issuing certificates of destruction for non-retained documents.
