Engineering and Technical Department

The Engineering and Technical Department is a structural subdivision of the National Archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The main tasks of the department are:

  • ensuring the targeted use of the building and specialized equipment;
  • ensuring compliance with the technology of archival document storage, their preservation, and use;
  • supervising the execution of operational and technical maintenance activities for the building and equipment carried out by non-staff employees of the operational and technical service of the National Archives;
  • planning the rational use of life support systems of the building and specialized technological equipment;
  • modernizing the life support systems of the building and equipment, as well as introducing and applying modern technologies during their operation.

In accordance with its assigned tasks, the department performs the following functions:

  • ensuring the implementation of measures aimed at the reliable and uninterrupted operation of power supply, heat supply, water supply, sewerage, ventilation, and automatic fire suppression systems;
  • monitoring the operation of heat supply, water supply, ventilation, air conditioning, fire alarm, gas, and sprinkler fire suppression systems;
  • organizing and conducting timely maintenance, preventive maintenance, and scheduled preventive repairs of engineering systems and equipment;
  • providing maintenance and routine repairs of engineering systems and power supply systems;
  • ensuring the organization of constant operation of the building’s technological equipment and monitoring its performance;
  • ensuring compliance with the standard temperature and humidity parameters for storing archival documents in the repositories;
  • keeping daily records of electricity, thermal energy, and water consumption;
  • monitoring the provision of safe working conditions and occupational health of employees, and their compliance with occupational health, safety, and fire safety requirements;
  • ensuring compliance with the instructions of authorized bodies regarding the maintenance of the building and the operation of equipment in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
  • developing and coordinating, jointly with the structural subdivisions of the National Archives, evacuation plans and action plans in the event of emergencies;
  • conducting briefings for National Archives employees on issues in accordance with the rules of occupational health, safety, and fire safety;
  • developing technical specifications, calculations, and justifications, and preparing technical documentation to formulate budget requests as part of annual and long-term financial planning;
  • participates in the preparation of proposals for the modernization of engineering systems, the introduction of energy-efficient technologies and improving the reliability of building and equipment operation.
