The Document Preservation Department is a structural division of the National Archives of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Main Functions
- Accessioning documents of the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Kazakhstan across all media formats into state storage
- Storing and ensuring the preservation of National Archival Fund documents within the repositories of the National Archives
- Receiving, storing, and ensuring the preservation of documents containing state secrets
- Storing and ensuring the preservation of the State Security Copy Fund and the reference collection (use fund)
- Identifying particularly valuable documents to be transferred for security copying
- Issuing archival materials to researchers in the reading room, to archive staff in workrooms for processing inquiries, restoration, exhibition selection, and other tasks, and to external organizations for temporary use
